The summer going into eighth grade I begged my mother to let me get braids, and not the kiddie braids going up into a pony-tail. I wanted long box braids, fast forward 6 weeks later and no EDGES left in sight, I vowed to never get them again. I hated sitting for hours in the same position, I hated the pain that came with gripping the tiniest pieces of hair, and I dreaded taking them out even more. That's why I was shocked I even considered getting them again, did I really want to go through that again, did I really want to keep the same hairstyle longer than a month????
I knew I wanted something different this summer for vacation and something that could protect my natural hair. I harassed my friend for about two months about getting my hair braided, I sent her so many pictures of different options, what size I wanted, and the length. Then when the week came to get them, I almost backed out! I am so happy that I decided to go for them because it was so worth the 9 hours. I never knew what I was missing, I love being able to get up and go!
