I recently got a chance to try eyelash extensions for the first time and now I may be a tad bit addicted. Although I was a bit skeptical about sitting with my eyes taped shut for two hours, it was actually very relaxing and the time went surprisingly fast. I am all about minimizing the amount of time I spend getting ready during the day and with lashes I kind of just wash my face, throw some gloss on, and go about my day, making lash extensions perfect. So when the idea of trying them came to mind I went straight to my friend and esthetician, Chamere at Loving My Lashes Boutique in Baltimore. As a part of Beauty Week, I thought it would be fun to ask her a few questions about what exactly it takes to have gorgeous lashes and amazing skin.
You not only do eyelash extensions, but promote healthy skin as well. What are the main mistakes you see women make when it comes to their skin?
I believe that most women make two common mistakes when it comes to skin care 1) they don't know enough about their own skin and 2) they don't research products before using them on their skin. As women we should consult with a professional to learn more about our skin type and things that affect it, whether it's from products or our diet. Once we figure out problem areas taking better care of skin will be a lot easier to do regardless of busy schedules.
What are some of your skin and makeup products you can't live without?
I cannot live with out bronzer and my lash extensions of course ;). Even when I have no make up on, all a little bronzer can brighten up my face in the summer and winter months.
So on to your new endeavor, eyelash extensions! What is the biggest misconception about eyelash extensions?
The biggest misconception about lash extensions is that they break your natural lashes or even worst they will look too heavy on your eyes. When done correctly and properly taken care of, you will have just as many natural lashes as you did before eyelash extensions. Its imperative to know your lash lady's work and do your own research to see exactly what the process entails.
Why do you think lash extensions are better than strip lashes or individual lashes sold in beauty stores?
I don't necessarily think strip lashes are bad, but they are very temporary and can be frustrating to put on yourself (sometimes). They don't typically last for more than one day or when it comes to sleeping and applying makeup. Clusters or "individuals" at the drug/beauty store I don't recommend ever.
Stranded on an island, and you can only take 5 things with you. what are you taking?
If I was stranded I would take a water filter, unlimited cups of noodles (lol), a pot, a knife, and a book or maybe the dictionary.
How can people follow your work and make an appointment?
The easiest way to make an appointment is to visit Vagaro.com/lovingmylashes and see my work on my Instagram.
