Broke Girls Guide to shopping designer Pieces

I think most of us agree, if we could just walk into a store with no budget and buy the most coveted designer items we would, but the reality is most of us can't. Season after season new lust worthy items hit the runway and plastered across the glossy pages for us regular people to see. Now there are some items that never ever go on sale unless you are buying them second-hand, but for the most part busing designer pieces is all about timing. Fortunately, for the women on a budget I am here to share some secrets to buying designer pieces on a budget.

1. Wait
I know it sounds hard to do, but trust me. Those shoes you want will go on sale eventually, probably sooner than you think. Every season stores like Barney's, SAKS, Neimans, and Bergdorf Goodman have sales and most of the time the previous season shoes go on sale. Especially toward the end of the year, beginning of summer, and end of summer.

2. Do your research
Yes, sometimes researching the item you want helps when trying to figure out if you want to buy it or not. Search to see if the item you want is on sale anywhere else or if there are any promo codes for the site you want to buy from. Also make sure you look up there return policy just in case you get the item and it doesn't fit or you do not like it.

3. Shop Designer Consignment Sites
Designer Consignment shops are always an option, especially when it comes to things like handbags. Designers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton NEVER go on sale, unless you are purchasing it used. I reviewed some consignments shops here. Unfortunately places like Ebay and Tradesy are not always trust worthy and there is no guarentee that you are getting an authentic item.

4. Online shopping
There are sites that offer only designer items and yes the shipping may be a little more expensive, but that is only because they are based in other countries. Sites, like Farfetch, Net-a-Porter, Matches Fashion, and Yoox to name a few.

5. Invest
Whenever you make a big purchase, you should evaluate how much you plan to use something. It is perfectly ok to spend a little more on an item you intend to wear a lot. My top key items I always spend a little more on are Leather, Handbags, and shoes!

6. Save
If you know there is a thousand dollar handbag you have been looking at and doubt it will go on sale anytime soon, put a little money aside each month until you can afford to buy it without feeling buyers remorse.
