I never understood the importance of taking care of your shoes until I got older, especially when it came to caring for your heels. I definitely learned this lesson from these shoes specifically, after only having them for a week I lost one of the original straps. I literally called every Barney's and even Manolo to try to find a match, and because of a drunk night had to get two new straps made. So I wanted to share some tips on taking more care of your shoes
- Quality is everything. Yes, those $50 shoes may seem appealing at the time, but you pay for what you get. If you do plan on spending a lot of money on your heels, try to choose quality shoes that you will have for a while.
- Treating your suede is imperative! I can not count how many times I have ruined suede shoes because they were not treated. Protecting your shoes can make it a lot easier to remove unwanted stains. I would avoid wearing suede out during the rain and snow or if you will be going out where you are unable to see (club). You can take them to the shoe cobbler to get them treated.
- If you love them DO NOT lend them out. If you intend on lending out your shoes, be sure that you leave them in the hands of someone you trust. Always remember no one will take care of your belongings more than you.
- The next tip is something that can save the ball of your foot. Wearing inner soles in your heels can make all the difference, especially when your heels are 4" and above. If you are someone who spends hours walking in your heels, you need inner soles.
- Replacing your heel tips is something most women forget. Rule of thumb once the metal part begins to show on your heels it's time to replace them. It is relatively cheap to get them replaced and cost you between $8-$13, I tend to check mine every six months.
